Western Cartoons
I don't watch or read things outside of 'animu' very much, so this list will be rather sparse. Apologies, but it is what it is.
Total count: 5
Steven Universe | |
Tags: action, fantasy(?), comedy, drama, het Steven, a young boy, inherits a magical gemstone from his mother. He tries to figure out the secrets and spends his days in Beach City with the other Crystal Gems. It’s gay in the aspect that all Crystal Gems are women (at least, they identify as such, they technically don’t have sex/gender). Notable pairings would be Sapphire/Ruby and Pearl’s obsession with Rose Quartz. It’s rather long and honestly this show is everywhere and maybe even problematic at some points. A human zoo? Are you fucking kidding me? How do you write this (in a positive way even, mind you) without seeing how freaking weird it is Rebecca Sugar? Are you high? I honestly just look up specific episodes since most other parts of the show either about some male kid, human side characters from Beach City and issues that I simply do not care about. |
Adventure Time | |
Tags: action, fantasy, comedy, drama, het, bisexual 12 year old Finn battles evil in the Land of Ooo. He is assisted by his magical dog, Jake. He decides to wed Princess Bubblegum, though she doesn’t want to marry him. Still, he persists anyway. I wouldn’t say it’s worth watching the entire thing for gay since the main character is male and you watch him be bitchless and struggle with relationships. The gay couple of focus would be Princess Bubblegum and vampire Marceline. Just watch the bubbline compilations on youtube lmao |
The Legend of Korra | |
Tags: action, fantasy, drama, political, het, bisexual A sequel to “Avatar; The Last Airbender”. The focus is on Korra, the next Avatar after Aang. Korra must master the art of airbending, which leads her to Republic City. She discovers that the land is plagued with crime and a growing antibending revolution. I'm starting to see why I don't watch western cartoons much. You gotta deal with the characters or side characters being wishy washy with het. Anyway the gay here is Korra/Asami. I used to ship them together as a joke crackship while it was airing, I didn't actually think it would happen. Honestly? Pretty based that they both got tired of men and decided to ditch them for each other. This isn't a very good show otherwise. I seriously have skipped most of it. On the other hand I rewatched Book 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender like, 4 times at this point, despite the fact that it does not have any gay. |
RWBY | |
Tags: action, fantasy, drama, comedy, het In the supernatural universe of Remnant, four strong girls are training to become Huntresses, which are humanity's only hope of defeating the shadowy and threatening creatures known as Grimm. After 9 goddamn volumes, Yang and Blake actually kiss each other. But otherwise? This isn't well written at all. The fight scenes were very good however. If you decide to sit through all of this or have actually done it, congratulations, you're an even bigger masochist than I am. I kneel. |
Arcane | |
Tags: action, adventure, fantasy, het Oh finally. A masterpiece on this list. Even outside of the gay, it’s a great watch. Arcane follows the origin of two iconic League of Legends champions. It is set in the utopian Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun. You don’t need to play or know anything about LoL to enjoy this show. There’s so many things that’s so good about this show that I can’t fit in this tiny box. Anyway, the gay is Caitlyn/Vi. I watched this without knowing it was gay, I honestly thought Caitlyn was straight and she was gonna be with that fuckboy looking ass champ at the start. And oh boy was I wrong, so wrong. I’m glad I’m wrong for once. |
